Join the VT Urban and Community Forestry Program for a free workshop on risk tree identification and assessment. Led by Urban Forester Adam McCullough and Technical Assistance Coordinator Joanne Garton, participants will:
- Learn basic skills and concepts related to tree risk management.
- Utilize a scoring system to quantifiably assess risk to people and structures.
- Discuss specific risks posed by ash trees infested with emerald ash borer.
- Consider options to mitigate hazards to ensure safety in urban and community forests.
Site information: The workshop will commence in the Atkins Pavillion and continue by foot to a nearby neighborhood. The group will return to Atkins Pavillion at the conclusion of the workshop. There is ample parking and a port-o-potty. Bring any food, water, and clothing needed to be comfortable outside from 1:30 pm - 4 pm.

Intended Audience: Tree wardens, assistant tree wardens, municipal staff and select board members, and any volunteers interested in learning more about tree risk and care in their community.
