In Vermont, we celebrate Arbor Day on the first Friday in May. Arbor Day honors our deep connection to trees and forests, which are truly a way of life here. Covering nearly three-quarters of our landscape, Vermont’s trees support our well-being, fuel our local economy, and shape the character of our communities. They clean our air and water, offer shade and beauty, support wildlife, and provide renewable resources that sustain jobs in forestry, recreation, and the trades. Arbor Day is not just about planting trees—it’s a reminder of our shared responsibility to be good stewards of the forests and trees that have long supported Vermonters.
