Congratulations to the 2022 Caring for Canopy Grant Recipients

We are pleased to announce the ten recipients of the 2022 Caring for Canopy grant program. These grants fund a variety of activities to strategically move a community's tree program forward. UCF will be awarding close to $40,000 to support the following projects:

Town of Corinth: Tree planting at the new town fire station.

Town of East Montpelier: Ash tree removal in the public right-of-way to prepare for the impacts of the emerald ash borer and tree plantings on public land.

Town of Essex: Ash tree removal and replacements in the public right-of-way to prepare for the impacts of the emerald ash borer.

Town of Johnson: Adding plantings to the Johnson Arboretum, tree planting in the town, Arbor Day celebration, and outreach.

Town of Middlebury: Developing and submitting a landscape plan to VTrans to support tree planting along state route 125 in response the removal of several large shade trees.

City of Montpelier: Transitioning the community tree nursery to a new larger, more ideal location in the city. 

Town of Orwell: Maintenance and inventory of the town green's existing trees, and planting new trees on the green.

Town of Shelburne: Tree plantings and outreach in accordance with the town's Emerald Ash Borer Plan.

Town of Wallingford: Tree plantings and an Arbor Day celebration.

Town of Waterbury: Tree plantings along Railroad Street and at Hope Davey Park.
