
Join the VT Urban and Community Forestry Program for a free workshop on pruning trees, held on the Townshend Common. The workshop will be led by Urban Forester Adam McCullough.
The Townshend Selectboard is reinvigorating the tree canopy at the town green. This training opportunity will give you the knowledge and tools to do the same with whatever trees you manage.

Workshop Overview: Learn to prune a tree for a sustainable structure while it is young to give it the best chance at longevity and health. We will go over proper pruning cuts that apply to all trees and shrubs, then dive into tree structure with live demonstrations by a Certified Arborist. Proper tree planting techniques will also be demonstrated as another young tree from VT UCF's nursery will be donated to the town green. A primer on tree friendly lawn management and mulch will follow.

- 11:00am - 12:00pm: Pruning workshop
- 12:00pm - 12:30pm: Lunch (Bring your own)
- 12:30 - 1:00pm: Tree planting demonstration
- 1:00 - 1:30pm: Mowers and mulch discussion
Intended Audience: This hands on training is intended for anyone interested in learning pruning skills and will be appropriate for all ability levels. Bring your own tools if you prefer, but there will be saws and hand snips available for you to borrow.
