Banding on beech leaves with BLD

Looking to sharpen your tree ID skills while learning about the threats facing Vermont’s forests? Join us for a guided field walk where we’ll identify common Northeastern trees—ash, maple, beech, and hemlock—and explore the invasive pests that affect them. Along the way, we’ll visit active infestations of beech leaf disease and emerald ash borer, and discuss what their presence means for the future of our forests.

Leaders:

We will be walking uphill on trails. Come prepared with sturdy walking shoes and bug and tick repellent. The walk will occur if there is a light drizzle but will be cancelled in case of heavy rain or lightning.

This event requires a minimum of 10 registrants to run and will be capped at 20.

Registration is required.
