Grant Opportunity: Growing Urban Forests in the Face of Emerald Ash Borer

The Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program is pleased to announce a competitive grant opportunity that will support more resilient urban and community forests, with a focus on Vermont's most populated areas. In consideration of the impact of the invasive emerald ash borer, this grant program will support:

  • Tree planting in the public right-of-way or on public spaces such as parks and village greens and
  • The establishment or enhancement of municipal tree nurseries.

A total of $60,00 will be awarded through individual cost-share grants ranging $3,000 - $15,000. This funding has been made available by the U.S. Forest Service and is intended for municipalities in a U.S. Census-defined urban area or urban cluster that are prepared to plant trees to offset the loss of public ash trees due to EAB. Applications are due Friday, October 29th.
