In place of our annual Arbor Day Conference, the Urban & Community Forestry Program is hosting three topic based, field events during the month of May. Let's celebrate trees all month long!
Thursday, May 5, 6-7:30pm
Middlebury Tree Tour
Our kick off event is a spring evening walk exploring Middlebury Campus trees. Tim Parsons, Landscape Horticulturist at Middlebury College, will lead a tour examining tree health, urban tree challenges, big trees, and more!
Monday, May 23, 4-6pm
A Walk and Talk in Huntington Community Forest
Join Kate Forrer, Community Forestry Specialist, and members of the Huntington Community Forest Committee for a walk in the Huntington Community Forest. We’ll learn about how the Huntington Community Forest Stewardship Committee has solicited input from the community to inform planning and stewardship activities in the forest.
Tuesday, May 24, 6-8pm
EAB and Resilient Roads
All Vermont communities are encouraged to determine their ash management strategy in response to emerald ash borer (EAB). EAB feeds on and kills all species of ash trees, and most ash trees will die within 5 years of infestation. So what does that look like on the ground? Join members of the Resilient Roads Committee and Joanne Garton, Technical Assistance Coordinator with VT Urban & Community Forestry Program to discuss East Montpelier's proactive management approach.
THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED.
