Emerald Ash Borer Planning Grant Recipients

This year our annual grants program is focused on supporting Vermont communities in emerald ash borer (EAB) planning.  We are pleased to announce that 20 community recipients will be receiving funding (up to $2,000 per town) to prepare for and manage the impacts of EAB locally.  The grant recipients, and a brief description of their funded project and objectives for 2019, are listed below.  

Town of Bradford: public outreach, roadside ash inventory, mapping, and establishment of an EAB Management Committee
Town of Calais: public outreach, roadside ash inventory, mapping, EAB management plan development, two replacement trees planted
Town of Charlotte: public outreach, roadside ash inventory, intern support, and mapping in support of the existing EAB preparedness plan
Town of Colchester: ash tree inventory update, public outreach, staff trainings
Town of Corinth: public outreach and tablets to conduct roadside ash inventory
Town of East Montpelier: public outreach, roadside ash inventory, EAB management plan development, and monitoring for EAB
Grand Isle County EAB Task Force: public outreach, roadside ash inventory, staff trainings, intern support, and signage for ash wood disposal sites
Town of Guilford: tablets and supplies to conduct roadside ash inventory
Town of Huntington: development of a crowd-sourced ash tree inventory tool, mapping, data analysis, and EAB management plan development
Town of Middlebury: seven trees planted (by volunteers) to offset eventual ash tree removals
Town of Milton: public outreach, roadside ash inventory, data anlyasis, and mapping
City of Montpelier: fencing, supplies, and signage to establish a wood disposal/marshalling area for ash wood
Town of Northfield: roadside ash inventory and mapping
Northwest Regional Planning Commission: outreach, education, and training for Franklin & Grand Isle County communities
Town of Putney: roadside ash inventory, mapping, data analysis, and report development (collaboration with Landmark College)
Town of Sharon: public outtreach
Town of Shelburne: tablets and supplies to conduct roadside ash inventory, intern support
Town of Vershire: public outreach, tablets to conduct roadside ash inventory, EAB management plan development
Town of Waterbury: roadside ash inventory and EAB management plan development
Town of Williston: three trees planted to offset ash tree removals
